3rd Annual Environmental and Cultural Festival features Free Family Activities and Entertainment
Featured entertainment includes Bronx Hip Hop legends and pioneers: DJ Jazzy Jay, GrandMaster Caz and Carlos “Mare 139” Rodriguez. Kids will enjoy touring the Environmental Mobile: a nature and maritime museum on wheels – and meeting Global Man, New York’s own environmental superhero. Numerous youth performances are planned, including an eco-centered music contest, and community and business leaders will be honored for their environmental contributions.
At the festival, The Bronx Borough President’s Office and the Office of Recycling Outreach and Education will hold a Textile & E-Waste recycling drive. The public is invited to bring old cell phones, computers, printers, TVs, gently used clothing and sneakers to the event for recycling, to reduce waste and help preserve the environment.
Event organizers include the Bronx Borough President’s Office, Bronx River Alliance, Bronx GreenUp, City Matters LLC, Council on the Environment of NYC (CENYC), LAS Consulting, Materials for the Arts/NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, Nos Quedamos, Grow NYC’s Office of Recycling Outreach and Education, the South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation (SoBRO), the Urban Divers Estuary Conservancy and Waste Management of New York. Over 30 businesses, community organizations, City agencies and not-for-profit groups are participating in this year’s GetGreen festival.
