The opening night of Chaka’s first solo show ever was off the chart!
The crowd was lined up down the block well before 7pm, waiting for the gallery to open. More than 700 people ended up coming through for this memorable night. The interior of the gallery, as well as the back yard was completely covered with Chaka’s various tags. The cityscape-inspired exhibit recalled the peak of Chaka’s tagging activities. Walls, fire hydrants, newspaper bins, street signs were all on display, embellished with Chaka’s tag. Everything was created new for this show, but in the style that Chaka was renowned for. Fans were able to purchase the various pieces in addition to special canvases Chaka created.
Daniel Ramos AKA Chaka was in attendance – fans swarmed around him as he posed for photo opps and the air was filled with a quiet reverence and awe.
LA’s graffiti community came through in support. Artists in attendance included: RISK, SLICK, REVOK, RETNA, RIME, SEVER, Estevan Oriol, Joe Connolly – the graffiti guerrilla, OILER, MOSH, SLEEZ.
