As the year winds down, the hip-hop community is set to witness the release of “We Do Good,” a new album by Boston’s own Edo G. Known for his deep-rooted affiliation with the boom-bap style of hip-hop, he continues to champion the authentic sound of the genre in this upcoming project. The album, which is scheduled for release on November 14th on Vinyl & Cassette as well as digitally worldwide, is a blend of Edo G’s production prowess and insightful lyrical narratives.
In the video for “Gillie Shit,” Edo sports a Hip Hop Fifty cap as he delivers two verses amid an illuminated backdrop. The lead single, which is produced by Edo G himself, is sans chorus but features a verbal narrative questioning the state rap these days that follows Edo’s lead.
you don’t deserve my respect
you a rapper not a killer or a murder suspect
I speak the truth and n*ggas want to change the subject
so callous, rhymes unchallenged
been around the atlas your shit’s disastrous
The tracklist of the album reveals a rich assembly of talents both in production and features. Apart from handling the production of several tracks himself, the album also includes production from names like Curt Cazal, Geronimo X, Torch, Kemp and others. The collaborative essence extends to the features as well, with artists like Greg Nice, Seventh Sun & Khaleb, and King Magnetic lending their voices to the project.
