Please take a moment to read the update below, originally sent out by Tools of War Hip Hop, as it contains essential information on how we can all come together to offer our support for Jorge Fabel Pabon.
On Sunday, August 27th, Jorge Fabel Pabon was riding his bike home from painting (Boone Avenue Walls), in the Bronx, when he was mowed down by a speeding vehicle in a hit and run incident. He was left for dead. Some kind soul saw him and called an ambulance, thank God.
He has spent the last month in the ICU having multiple surgeries and is now transitioning to a rehab facility. He sustained critical injuries including compound fractures to his legs, fractured pelvis, multiple rib fractures to both sides, punctured right lung, and lacerated liver among other injuries. The family anticipates a long, difficult road ahead to recovery.
Fabel is a legendary Hip Hop dancer as well as the foremost historian of Hip Hop dance. He was scheduled to teach Movement at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts this semester. His livelihood largely depends on his ability to perform, teach, leacture and travel. We are asking friends and family to donate whatever they can to assist with his mounting medical bills and living expenses at this time since he will not be able to work for some time. Any donation is appreciated, no amount is too small.
If you don’t have it but still want to help – feel free to share the gofundme link: https://gofund.me/13b9edcf. Please, if you email, call, text or message and he doesn’t answer, he’s resting and healing. Please keep him in your prayers. We will keep everyone posted when he is ready to accept bookings again.
This fundraiser is managed by Jorge’s niece, Jazmin and his twin brother, Pedro Pabon. With much gratitude and love, we thank you for your support.
