Raleigh, North Carolina hip-hop ensemble Kooley High are well on their way of turning nothin’ into somethin’. Comprised of MC’s Tab-One, Rapsody, Charlie Smarts, producers Foolery, The Sinopsis, and DJ Ill Digitz, the group was formed at N.C. State University, with what started as a student-run hip hop organization and has since developed into one of indie hip-hop’s finest young groups. Since forming, Kooley High has released a host of mixtapes, EP’s, and solo albums, and their latest group effort, Eastern Standard Time, was originally released this past summer, earning Kooley High not only high praise but a newly formed partnership with Fat Beats Records. Now, Kooley High and Fat Beats are happy to announce the re-release of Eastern Standard Time, currently available at digital and physical retailers.
Since release, Eastern Standard Time has been charming listeners with its soulful mixture of hip-hop and jazz, and with the debut video, “Somethin’ Outta Nothin’,” a recent single from the album that features fellow North Carolina rapper Median. Kooley High adorns these sounds with introspective imagery to compliment the smooth cut, while the video, directed by Frank Sun, utilizes understated yet effective special effects to compliment the laid back beat from Foolery and vocals from Tab-One, Charlie Smarts, and Median.
