LL Cool J called out rappers in the culture that acted too big for Hip Hop 50 performances for forgetting where they come from. LL was one of the earliest rapper-turned-actor artists but has shown he still has deference for the culture.
On “Passion”, Cool J spits in a flow that’s a bit different than what you might be used to showing that time hasn’t dulled his shark-fin sharpness. The video takes Mr. Smith back to the beginning of writing rhymes in his bedroom with graffiti on the walls and his iconic kangol on the dresser. “Passion” comes off of the upcoming album The Force – the Queen’s emcees first albumin 11 years. The Force is scheduled for a September 2024 release.
