Four times a year the seasons change and carry a shift in atmosphere. The spring roars in on the wings of fertility. Summer consumes us with play before the heat fades, leaves change, and the first hints of autumn bring a bold crisp chill. And then it all lays still, like a steady drum beating a silence that envelopes us in calm through the end of our annual cycle – winter.
Throughout last year, Washington DC/Brooklyn producer & emcee Oddisee released an EP each season; Odd Spring, Odd Summer, Odd Autumn & Odd Winter. Each EP had a distinct feel that captured the mood and feel of the particular season. Widely followed by legions of fans as the project was being created, now, for the first time, all four seasons have been mixed, mastered and polished together on one album, Odd Seasons. Odd Seasons provides a comprehensive look at the scope of Oddisee’s production and shows the incredible variety in his production styles ranging from funk to boom bap to latin to electronic and more. Odd Seasons will be available May 17th via Mello Music Group.
Today, enjoy the official music video for the song “Ci’iy Life” featuring London emcee, Tranqill, who Oddisee describes as his favorite UK rapper. The music video features dark and moody cityscapes by animator Mark Phillips.
