Q-TIP TO PERFORM MYSPACE MUSIC RELEASE SHOW AT THE TROCADERO IN PHILADELPHIA, PA, ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6
NEW ALBUM "THE RENAISSANCE" IN STORES NOVEMBER 4 AND ONLINE NOW ON UNIVERSAL MOTOWN
MySpace Music is proud to announce that hip-hop pathfinder Q-Tip will be performing a free show for his MySpace friends at the Trocadero Theatre Upstairs in Philadelphia, PA, on Thursday, November 6, 2008 – a show being powered by AT&T. The Release Show will have 200 tickets available for the 21+ show, and admittance will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 11 p.m., with the performance starting immediately after.
As one of the founding members of the forward-thinking Native Tongues collective A Tribe Called Quest (alongside other notable acts such as De La Soul, Black Sheep, Jungle Brothers, etc.), Grammy award winner Q-Tip has solidified himself as a name synonymous with hip-hop innovation. With his recognizable high-pitched delivery and knack for vivid storytelling, Q-Tip, along with his cohorts in A Tribe Called Quest, came to be known as one of the most important acts in hip-hop history due to their laid-back, bohemian vibe, atypical jazz-inspired musical sampling, and the creation of a music that rivaled the hardcore posturing that was prevalent on both coasts of the country during the group’s heyday. Q-Tip closed the Nineties with his first gold-certified solo album, "Amplified," the crossover smash "Vivrant Thing," and collaborations with Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, REM, Missy Elliott and Lucy Pearl. Currently, Q-Tip is gearing up for the release of his new solo album, "The Renaissance," which will be issued on Universal Motown on Election Day, November 4. Featuring guest appearances from Raphael Saadiq, Norah Jones and others, "The Renaissance" illustrates Q-Tip’s versatility as an artist and showcases exactly why he continues to remain relevant in the hip-hop game of today.
