ABOUT THE 2009 DMC AMERICAN BATTLEGROUND
DMC DJ Battles are the World’s most longest running and most prestigious DJ Battles. This year, DJs took charge of their local battle scenes to bring DMC battles to both San Antonio TX, Fairfax VA and New Orleans LA for the first time ever, as well as to tried and true DJ battle cities: New York City and Los Angeles. DJs from across the USA entered battles in these select cities with the hope of representing the United States in the 2009 DMC World DJ Championships in London on Sept. 11th and 12th.
In the traditional DMC DJ battle, which began in 1985, DJs showcase six minute routines on 2 Technics turntables and 1 mixer for the judges. The first US DJ to win this battle was DJ Cheese from Plainfield NJ who incorporated scratching into his routine, taking the 1986 DMC World title and forever changing what was more of a mixing competition to a Hip Hop DJ battle. Since that time Americans including DJ Cash Money, Roc Raida, Craze, ie.MERG, Qbert, Mix Master Mike and Apollo have claimed the World title.
2009 DMC USA DJ FINALS PRIZES:
The 2009 DMC US Champion wins the Rane TTM 57SL mixer + a roundtrip ticket to London (and hotel) to represent the USA in the 2009 DMC World DJ Championships on Sept. 11 & 12th, 2009.
Runner up receives the Rane TTM 56S mixer and third place will recieve the UDG/Rane Creator Backpack plus Messenger Bag. Qbert Skratch University will give Thud Rumble Prize Packs which includes Vinyl, Dvds, and other product. Acrylick will present the champion with gear sponsorship.
