The Bay Area’s Own Son Of The Hood Releases Video For Stirring Street Story
Shady Nate and E Da Sanga have been heating things up with their soulful hustler’s story, “Planes, Trains and Automobiles,” the single from Shady Nate’s 2009 Gasman Unleashed project. The song features the emcees deftly weaving a tale about street survival, smarts, and commerce, as Shady Nate raps that “As long as you never tell it/Shady gonna sell it/Hide it real good so the dogs can’t smell it.” Director Damon Jamal has now brought “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” from speakers to the silver screen with the official video for the Bay Area banger. The video mirrors the narrative of the song and finds Shady Nate taking a plane-train-and-automobile assisted trip in order to facilitate an exchange with a fellow street CEO. Along the way, a confident Shady reminds us that this is all just means to an end in front of a microphone, proclaiming that “I’m about to escalate, so watch me elevate.” Check out Shady Nate’s story on Gasman Unleashed, and keep your ear to the ground for the release of his official debut album, Son Of The Hood in 2010 via ClearBeat Records.
Shady Nate is no stranger to struggle and adversity. Born and raised in West Oakland’s Acorn housing projects, Shady Nate learned from a young age to hustle and grind to get anywhere. His rapping career began at the age of five when he started writing his thoughts and daily experiences in a journal. These entries gradually developed into the lyrics that he spits today. In 2004 Shady Nate launched Livewire Records and subsequently recorded and released a full-length mixtape with Nas’ tour DJ, Oakland native DJ Fresh. The buzz only got bigger when Nate released The Bofessional, which is regarded as his best mixtape to date. Riding high on his growing popularity, Shady Nate released The Gasman Unleashed in June 2009, and the album was quickly dubbed a west coast classic. The Gasman Unleashed is available now via Clear Label Records.
