CONNECTS WITH THE FAN THROUGH TWITTER AND WYCLEF.COM
NEW YORK, NY (July 27, 2009) – Multi-platinum recording artist Wyclef Jean produced and recorded remixes to his recently released song “More Bottles” with the eight winners of his “More Bottles Remix” competition announced through his Twitter and WyclefJean.com websites. Fans submitted 30 second “Bubble Tweet” videos and the eight winners were invited to his Platinum Sound recording studio Saturday where they spent the day recording remixes. Wyclef’s version will be available through on Itunes in August and featured on both a forth-coming mix tape this September with DJ Drama and the upcoming LP, “Wyclef Jean” in January 2010.
Jean’s popularity on Twitter has grown at a staggering pace after he began “Tweeting” only recently when Twitter Founder Evan Williams and investor Chris Sacca set up his Twitter account on stage while performing at one of his San Francisco concerts in late April of this year. Jean’s followers on Twitter have grown to over 600,000 in just 12 short weeks.
He gained worldwide praise and recognition, not only for his new and innovative ways of communicating with his music fans, but for his candidness and willingness to share thoughts on spirituality and politics. Global press and media were drawn to his site when he expressed support for the freedom of speech for the youth of Iran.
Connecting with his fans is very important to Jean. His official website, www.wyclef.com gives free access to exclusive music, concerts, blogs, and personal videos Jean creates from events he attends. Watch the entire recording session with the Twitter contest winners now at www.wyclef.com.
