On “My Negus”, Detroit’s ZotheJerk is pushing for what he’s sees as a course correction for Black folks and sends a message to those who stand in the way when he raps; “so it’s ride or be rode on, flashbacks of bombs falling on Black Wall Street, this all me, not them mediocre rhymes, dancing, feminine fashion trends, it’s the return of strong black men”. “My Negus” is the second single from his Frost Gamble-produced album Black Beach. While the rhyme content is on point in Guilty Simpson’s verse, he seems less interested here when compared to ZotheJerk’s energy.
If you don’t know, take ZotheJerk’s lead and read up on Black Wall Street and what happened there.
